For the second year in a row, The Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE) is organizing the Ethiopia Cup of Excellence. One of the main events during the Cup are the auctions. On the 25th of June 2020, 168 registered bidders from 33 different countries competed for no less than five hours to get the top Ethiopian coffees, which resulted in a record for raising the highest rewards for the coffee producers in the competition. The highest scoring coffee was sold for $185,10 per pound, according to the ACE the highest price ever paid for an Ethiopian coffee.
The Coffee Quest has never experienced The Cup Of Excellence up close, but last year we were privileged to work with one of the winning producer/ exporter, Daye Bensa Coffee, who participates under their leader’s name: Assefa Dukamo Kerma.
This year we will participate in the exclusive auctions. The first auction featuring the 9 National Winners is held from 28th of June until the 9th of July. The second auction featuring the Cup of Excellence Top 30 will be 7th July.
Would you like a chance to bid on these coffees as well? We are organising a Buyers' Group for both auctions.
Would you like to participate in the Buyers’ Group? Leave your email here and we will get back to you.
What is a buyers' group?
A buyers’ group is a group of informal buyers, under the responsibility of a professional lead buyer who organises the auction in their name. By participating in the buying group, you have the possibility to bid on lots through The Coffee Quest.
You can choose to place a bid on a specific full lot, which The Coffee Quest will place for you during the auction. As group members, you can also cooperate with us and each other in placing shared bids for a full lot.
- The Coffee Quest can place multiple bids on multiple lots for various members of the buying group.
