Costa Rica Origin Trip: Learning about production, meeting the farmer & select your own lot
Dates: 17 – 24 February (last minute entries possible)
The Coffee Quest is proud to announce this year’s trip to Costa Rica together with Planting Costa Rica. This country has a long history of coffee production, and is always among the roaster favourite’s, in particular the clean specialty lots found all over the country. Off course everyone knows Tarrazu, but we will be visiting the other coffee regions as well. The end of February is perfect timing, not only for the cold winter times in Europe, but farmers are still harvesting, while there is already plenty of coffee to cup. The Coffee Quest aims to provide a nice combination of education at origin, sourcing options and getting to know Costa Rica’s culture. I mean, there will be some tough travelling to see this much in 1 week, but we will compensate with great coffee and good music & rum!
Overall the trip is designed for coffee roasters who want to dramatically increase their knowledge of origin, while enjoying the natural wonders of Costa Rica. The visits include; The CATIE Institute for coffee varieties, Micro mills in Tarrazu & West-Valley (e.g. Sonora and Las Lajas), Planting Costa Rica’s Bueyerito Mill and ending at the beach for some well-deserved rest. So a natural way of seeing all the steps of the process, from harvest to export. Email us for more details!
