Finca El Diamante is located in Vereda Santa Isabel, Urrao, Antioquia, Colombia, and is managed by Duver Mejía, a 33‑year‑old coffee producer from a lifelong coffee‑growing family. The farm spans 4 hectares at 1,800 m.a.s.l., with 7,500 coffee trees of Chiroso and Red Bourbon. In addition to coffee, Duver raises cattle and grows beans and lulo.
Duver uses a traditional “cochadas” method: he harvests ripe cherries, selects them, depulps, and places the wet parchment into stainless steel tanks each day. Over 8 to 10 days, the tanks are gradually filled and you end up with an interesting fermentation gradiant. Once full, he washes the entire batch and dries the coffee in marquesinas for 6 to 10 days, depending on the weather.
Duver inherited Finca El Diamante from his family, who have long grown coffee in Betulia. He decided to plant coffee because he loves both coffee and cattle, but he became especially drawn to the Chiroso variety. Convinced of its potential, he built a well-equipped wet mill and turned his focus toward specialty production, starting in 2022.
We began working with Duver and Finca El Diamante in 2026, and we are excited to keep building our network of producers in Urrao with our new buying station in the region.
