Finca El Jordán is located in Vereda Mesitas, Garzón, Huila, Colombia, and is managed by Alberto Gutiérrez Vaquiro, a 29-year-old coffee producer (and TCQ Colombia’s Coordinator in Huila!). The farm spans 1.5 hectares at 1,700 m.a.s.l., where Alberto cultivates Gesha (1,200 trees), Chiroso (1,200 trees), and Java (300 trees).
Alberto begins his processes in the following fashion: After careful harvesting and selection, the cherries undergo a 24-hour fermentation before being de-pulped. The parchment is then placed in barrels and fermented for an additional 48 hours. The parchment is then drained and laid to dry on raised beds for 10-14 days, depending on the weather.
Alberto inherited Finca El Jordán from his parents, learning the craft from them while simultaneously building his career with The Coffee Quest over the past eight years.
In 2022, he began managing the farm independently, making this Gesha lot his first harvest as both owner and innovator. Now, as a part of our Productores del Futuro project and our Quality Coordinator in Huila, we are beyond excited to keep bringing Finca El Jordan’s coffees!
We’ve been working with Alberto since 2017, and now Finca El Jordán since 2025 and we are thrilled to work with together in multiple capacities!
