Finca El Porvenir, from Gaitania, Tolima

Luis Alexandro learned coffee from his parents, and his family has deep roots in Gaitania. For years, he managed his parents farm, and a neighbour’s farm before being able to purchase his own. In 2016, he submitted one of his lots to a national contest (“La Mejor Suavidad” in Colombia Tierra de Diversidad) and won first place, sowing the seeds of specialty and quality in him. The prize money gave him the means to buy Finca El Porvenir. Since then, he has been constantly improving his processes and planting exotic varieties to reach higher quality levels.
