Finca La Reserva, in Palanda, Zamora Chinchipe, Ecuador

Finca La Reserva is located in the Zamora Chinchipe Province in Ecuador, and is run by associates Richard Granda y Marlon Quevedo. The farm sits at an elevation of approximately 1,500 – 1,600 m.a.s.l.  and consists of 23 hectares in total, with 14 of those hectares planted with exciting varieties such as Bourbon Sidra, Typica Mejorado and Geisha.

For their Sidra lots, they produce two processes: Honey and Washed. For the Honeys, they start with careful selection of the cherries and a 48 hour dry fermentation prior to de-pulping. For the Washed lot, the coffee undergoes the same dry fermentation prior to de-pulping, but then an additional 24 hours after the cherry has been de-pulped. Both lots are dried in raised African beds for between 20-28 days (depending on the process and the weather), with constant movement to ensure uniform drying.

Aiming High Will Take You Far...

Finca La Reserva was born from the alliance between Richard Granda y Marlon Quevedo, two agro entrepreneurs with coffee tradition in their veins. They started their coffee quest (pun intended) 4 years ago, and went full throttle, aiming for those exclusive and exotic varieties… and let us tell you, their efforts have paid off with excellent cup qualities across the board!

With the eye on the prize since its conception, Finca La Reserva is on route to becoming notable in the region for having a strict quality focus and an immeasurable focus on processing.

Their ultimate goal is to become the farm with THE BEST coffee in South America. In the meantime, their short term goal is to participate and win every regional and national competition in Ecuador.
