Finca La Sierra, from Santa Barbara, Honduras

Finca La Sierra is located in the village of El Cedral, Las Vegas, Santa Barbara, Honduras, and it is managed by the family of Daniel Moreno, who was a pioneering coffee producer and one of the founders of El Cedral. The farm spans 1.61 hectares at 1,600 m.a.s.l., where the family grows Pacas (60%) and Gesha (40%) varieties.

The processing follows the Moreno family’s meticulous standards: cherries are depulped each afternoon, dry-fermented for 22 hours, washed four times, and dried for approximately 20 days in a parabolic solar dryer, depending on the weather.

In Loving Memory

Daniel Moreno’s impact extended far beyond his own farm. In the 1970s, he helped establish El Cedral village and introduced coffee as a sustainable livelihood for the community. As his sons grew, he gifted each a portion of his land, retaining only Finca La Sierra for himself.

When his eldest son, Miguel, placed 4th in the Cup of Excellence between 2006-2010, Daniel inspired the entire family to shift entirely to specialty coffee production.

Though Daniel passed away in 2018, his sons honor him by continuing to manage Finca La Sierra collectively and preserving his name on every micro-lot.

We connected with Finca La Sierra and the Moreno family through Beneficio San Vicente and started working with them in 2025. We are thrilled to build this relationship!
