Finca La Soledad, from Caicedo, Antioquia

Finca La Soledad is located in Caicedo, Antioquia, Colombia, and is managed by Oscar Orlando Caro, a coffee producer who learned the craft from his family. The farm spans 5 hectares at 2,100 m.a.s.l., where Oscar grows 5,000 trees of the Chiroso variety.

Oscar’s process begins with selective harvesting of ripe cherries, which are placed in sealed bags for three days of anaerobic fermentation. After depulping, the coffee is returned to bags for another three days before being washed and dried in a marquesina for 10 to 14 days, depending on the weather.

From Jardín to Caicedo

Oscar Orlando Caro grew up in Jardín, Antioquia, where coffee was always part of his family’s life. His father, an experienced coffee grower, taught him the fundamentals of the craft. Years later, Oscar made the move to Caicedo, where he established Finca La Soledad and began cultivating Chiroso. He works alongside his brother, who also has a farm in the region, and together they share knowledge and labor. We also work with his brother, reflecting the deep coffee roots of this family.

We began working with Oscar and Finca La Soledad in 2026, and we are excited to keep building this relationship.
