Finca Loma Linda is located in Santa María, Huila, Colombia, and managed by Luis Vicente Hernandez, a second-generation coffee grower. The farm consists of 4 hectares of land and sits at an elevation of 2,000 m.a.s.l, with around 8,000 coffee trees in production of the Caturra, Yellow Bourbon, and Colombia varieties.
Luis Vicente is a member of our Allied Producer Program and is currently one of the more advanced producers in The Coffee Quest’s network. He has been experimenting with different processes, including various yeast inoculation trials. This particular lot is the result of some of those trials and we are thrilled to offer it! This lot is a blend of Caturra and Colombia inoculated with yeast, dry-fermented for 80 hours, and then dried on raised African beds for between 10-15 days (depending on the weather).
Luis Vicente says he has been farming his entire life. He started helping out his parents at a young age and his Father gave him real tasks to teach him and his brother work ethic. After he graduated from school, he worked as a day laborer and also sold onions, cassava (yuca), and fruits to make a living. Approximately 9 years ago, he started growing coffee on his farm and he also grows corn, cassava (yuca), beans, and bananas.
Luis Vicente is a Father to 3 children and feels very proud and lucky that all of his children want to continue with the coffee tradition, keeping his legacy alive!
We have been working with Luis Vicente and Finca Loma Linda since 2018, and year after year we are surprised by their consistency and perpetual improvement!
