Fincas Lomas de Nogosco is located in Fredonia, Antioquia, and it is managed by our team in Colombia, led by David Gallón. The farm sits at an average elevation of 1,950 m.a.s.l. and spans over 9.9 hectares of land, with 3.3 hectares planted in coffee. We are currently growing the traditional varieties Caturra and Castillo varieties, with plans of replacing them with more exotic varieties soon!
This Natural process begins by harvesting the ripest of cherries, and dunking them in water to remove any floaters. The cherries are then left in barrels to ferment for 24 hours and finally dried in the mechanical drier for an intermittent drying process: 12 hours of continuous drying at 38 °C, followed by 12 hours of rest, for 8 days straight.
Finca Lomas de Nogosco is one of our most important projects to date. The Coffee Quest acquired the farm in April of 2024 with aims to make it an Educational Hub for Specialty Coffee and Sustainable Production in Colombia, as well as a seed nursery for exotic varieties from all over. We also plan to develop and create new and unique profiles using different inoculation methods.
The project is only in its inception phase and we can’t wait to see how everything develops over the coming years!
