Finca Los Naranjos is located in Vereda Pavón, Urrao, Antioquia, Colombia, and is managed by Moisés Daniel Moreno Garzón, a 49-year-old second-generation coffee producer. The farm spans 5.5 hectares, with approximately 2 hectares dedicated to coffee at 1,800 m.a.s.l. and the remaining 3.5 hectares used for cattle. Moisés cultivates approximately 3,000 trees: 1,500 Catimor and 1,500 Chiroso. This lot is 100% Chiroso.
Moisés begins his process by harvesting only ripe cherries and depulping them the same day. The parchment is then fermented in open tanks for 5-6 days, and washed with abundant water. Next, it is laid to dry in marquesinas for 8 to 10 days, depending on the weather, with constant movement to ensure an even drying.
Moisés had been a coffee farmer for many years, but he took a hiatus to grow “Lulo” fruit, since commercial coffee wasn’t profitable for him. But something changed, and in 2022, he heard about an astouding new variety in Urrao that was driving excellent results. With that info, he decided to give it a shot at Finca Los Naranjos. That variety was Chiroso, of course!
Today, he works the farm alongside his brother, and they have embraced specialty production ever since.
We met Moisés through Santiago Caro, our field agent on the ground in Urrao and began working with his coffee in 2026… needless to say, we are really excited to keep building this relationship!
