Malaria campaign Update #1: Our 1st net distribution

Our first mosquito net distribution:

The Malaria-free world Campaign was founded by CarePlus under the name, Buy One, Give One, a Dutch social enterprise that provides products to facilitate healthy and safe travels. They are on a mission to rid the world of Malaria by 2030. At The Coffee Quest, we were inspired by this goal and saw the potential for synergy. With our campaign, we help Ugandan coffee cooperatives fight malaria.

The 1st distribution was in Makulubita and Kapeeka primary cooperative greater Luweero region on the 3rd July 2020. We distributed 400 nets with the help of CarePlus and Tony Mugoya from UCFA.

Our mission is protecting the 12.000 families who are united in 24 cooperatives in the greater Luweero region.

Care Plus® started distributing printed and treated net in 2020, and that raised our attention. In collaboration with The Uganda Coffee Farmers Alliance, we contacted Care Plus® and offered to open our network for net distribution. Our first distribution effort focused on distribution nets sponsored by Care Plus® among the members of the following cooperatives in Luweero and Nakaseke districts:

  • Makulubita Cooperative
  • Kapeeka Cooperative

After a successful distribution effort of distributing 250 nets at each cooperative during an Uganda Coffee Farmers Alliance business and training meeting, we decided to continue our work and scale up net distribution to 400 nets.
