Finca El Oregon is located in Vereda Los Guayabos, Santa María, Huila, Colombia, and is managed by Luz Stella Rivera Rico, a 45‑year‑old first generation coffee producer. The farm spans 2 hectares at 1,750 m.a.s.l., where Luz Stella grows Pink Bourbon and Caturra across approximately 6,000 trees.
Luz Stella’s process begins with selective harvesting of ripe cherries, which are collected in bags over two days before being depulped, a process known as cochadas. The wet parchment is then fermented in tile-lined tanks with minimal water for two days. After washing twice, the coffee is dried in a marquesina for 12 to 14 days, depending on the weather.
Luz Stella and her husband are originally from Yaguará, Huila, where both worked as employees… neither with any connection to coffee. Over time, the desire to live in the countryside, own their own farm, and raise their family close to nature grew stronger. They looked at cattle farms and agricultural properties, but the moment they visited Finca El Oregon, they fell in love with it.
In 2022, they purchased the farm and threw themselves fully into coffee production. They knew little about specialty coffee, but by asking neighbors and learning together, they planted Pink Bourbon and Caturra while figuring out how to process it properly. Today, Finca El Oregon is a family operation—Luz Stella, her husband, and their son handle every part of the process themselves.
We began working with Luz Stella and Finca El Oregon in 2026, and we are excited to keep building this relationship.
