Finca Bendición de Dios is located in the Montecillos region of La Paz, Honduras, and is managed by Denis Orlando Ávila,. The farm sits at 1,500 m.a.s.l., where Denis cultivates the prized Pink Bourbon variety
Denis follows the standard Washed process, meticulously. Ripe cherries are selected with extreme care, and floated to remove low-density beans. The cherries are then de-pulped and dry-fermented in concrete tanks for 12 to 16 hours, before being washed vigorously in channels, where denser beans are separated by gravity. Finally, the coffee is spread in thin layers on raised beds and moved several times a day with wooden rakes for a uniform, slow dried coffee of between 10-15 days, depending on the weather.
Denis Orlando Ávila did not inherit a large farm. His beginnings in coffee were humble… working as a day laborer alongside other producers in the Montecillos region.
With a clear vision and savings built from daily labor, Denis began his dream. Little by little, with patience and faith, he purchased small parcels of land from neighboring producers. Each piece was baptized with hope, and eventually, those fractions came together to form the beautiful property he now calls Bendición de Dios. Today, Denis dedicates himself 100% to coffee. The crop has not only transformed the landscape but also radically improved his quality of life and income, allowing him to invest in his family’s well-being. For Denis, the farm is truly a “Blessing of God”.
This lot is brought to you by our exporting partners in Honduras, CONEXH (Corporación Exportadora de Café de Origen Natural de Honduras), a family-owned company founded in 2021. They are on a mission to elevate Honduran coffee quality through sustainable farming practices while reducing agrochemical use and strengthening social impact in Honduras’ highlands.
We connected with Denis and CONEXH in 2024, and we are excited to showcase his coffees and build this relationship!
