Finca El Triangulo is located in the vereda of El Placer, in Santa María, Huila, Colombia, and is managed by Jamer Cubillos: a 36-year-old, third-generation coffee grower. The farm consists of 2.5 hectares of land and sits at an elevation of 1,850 masl, with over 8,000 coffee trees of the Pink Bourbon, Geisha, Colombia, and Cenicafé 1 varieties… and with some Catuaí on the way!
Jamer starts his lot by carefully handpicking the ripest of cherries and removing all floaters, he then leaves the cherries in the hopper overnight and de-pulps them in the afternoon. The parchment is left in plastic barrels to ferment for 60 hours, washed, and laid to dry in raised beds for 12 – 15 days, depending on the weather.
Jamer has been in coffee production his whole life. His family is from the region of Santa María, and all of them dedicated to growing coffee… from his Grandfather all the way down!
Fun Fact: Jamer was one of the pioneer producers we worked with in the OG days of the La Victoria Association, but at that time he owned a different farm.
However, 5 years ago, he made a decision for his family’s sake: sell his former farm (which was located in a secluded area, far from the city) and move to Finca El Triangulo, improving their livelihoods with better access roads, closer to the Santa María town center, and closer to their children’s school.
We started working with Jamer and Finca El Triangulo again in 2022 and we look forward to building the relationship even further!
