Finca Las Tres Peñas is located in the village of El Cedral, Las Vegas, Santa Barbara, Honduras, and it is managed by Duvis Moreno, a 40-year-old coffee producer. The farm spans 2.8 hectares of land, sitting at an elevation of 1,650 m.a.s.l., where Duvis grows 100% Pacas variety, focusing on quality over quantity.
Duvis begins his Washed process by depulping cherries each afternoon and dry-fermenting the parchment for 20 hours. The parchment is then washed four times with floaters removed in the process, and laid to dry in parabolic solar driers for approximately 20 days, depending on the weather.
Originally a vegetable farmer in El Cedral, Duvis moved to San Pedro Sula in 2008 to work in a workshop, saving enough to purchase a 0.70-hectare plot dotted with three large rocks (Hence the name “Tres Peñas”, which translates to “Three Big Rocks”). He planted Pacas in 2011, but a severe workplace accident the following year left him with burns and without a job.
Returning home to recover, Duvis channeled his determination into coffee. With support from his brother and Beneficio San Vicente, he transformed his land into a productive specialty coffee farm. Now, as part of a family with generations of coffee heritage, he works to provide economic stability for his loved ones while continuing the tradition his grandparents began.
We connected with Duvis through Beneficio San Vicente’s specialty program and have been working with his coffee since 2025. We are excited to develop this relationship!
