Finca La Esperanza is located in Vereda San Carlos, in Urrao, Antioquia, Colombia, and is managed by Diana Arboleda Tabares, a 44‑year‑old coffee producer who inherited the farm from her father. The farm spans 2 hectares at 1,800 m.a.s.l., with 1,700 Chiroso trees.
Diana’s processing method begins with harvesting ripe cherries, which she rests for one day before depulping. She then submerges the parchment in water to ferment for 2 to 3 days. After washing, the coffee is dried in a “cajón” (a concrete patio covered by a metal roof that slides open to let in the sun) for 8 to 12 days, depending on the weather.
Diana inherited Finca La Esperanza from her father and has managed it since 2011. The farm has always produced coffee, but under her care it has transitioned from Caturra to Chiroso. Her brothers are also actively involved in the farm’s operations, and together they maintain the land while also raising a few cows.
We began working with Diana and Finca La Esperanza in 2026, and we are excited to keep building this relationship!
