Finca Santa Librada is located in the Vereda Santa Librada (yup, named after the “vereda”), in Santa María, Huila, Colombia, and is managed by Edwin Carvajal, a 44-year-old, second-generation coffee grower. The farm consists of 39 hectares of land, with 12 hectares dedicated to growing coffee. It sits at an elevation of 1,900 m.a.s.l, and with around 30,000 coffee trees in production of the Pink Bourbon, Tabi, Caturra, and Geisha varieties.
Edwin’s lots start by handpicking the ripest cherries, de-pulping, and then leaving them in sealed barrels to ferment for 5 days. The parchment is then washed and placed to dry on raised beds for 15 – 20 days, depending on the weather.
Finca Santa Librada is part of an investor-group, with Edwin Carvajal as the spearhead of operations and commercialization. And now with 6 years under Edwin’s direction, the farm has grown in quality, volume, and offerings.
Finca Santa Librada also has a protected reserve within its borders and has a dedicated space for dairy cattle and horses.
They are the amazing Runner-Ups of our Huila Mágico 2024 Edition, ranking high amongst the best in Huila. We started working with Edwin and Finca Santa Librada in 2024, and we are thrilled to build this relationship!
