Sítio Fazendinha is located in the Mantiqueira de Minas region, in southern Minas Gerais, Brazil, and is managed by Emilio Raimundo de Faria. The farm spans 22 hectares, with 14 hectares dedicated to coffee cultivation at an elevation of 1,190 m.a.s.l. Here, Emilio grows the Red Catuaí variety—a cross between Mundo Novo and Caturra—known for its productivity and vibrant tasting notes.
Emilio’s process begins with careful handpicking of ripe cherries, followed by natural drying under the sun for 15-21 days, with constant movement throughout the day to ensure an even drying.
Emilio Raimundo de Faria’s story is one of grit and generational passion. He learned the craft alongside his father, tending seedlings in nurseries and laboring on farms long before owning land of his own. When he finally acquired Sítio Fazendinha, the challenges were steep: limited equipment, scarce resources, and the weight of inexperience. But with his family’s support, Emilio transformed adversity into opportunity. Sítio Fazendinha is one of the few farms in Brazil that still handpicks cherries to ensure quality. Handpicking combined with Red Catuaí’s yield result in top-notch lots for everyone!
Today, Emilio invests tirelessly in his crops, driven by a vision to elevate Sítio Fazendinha into a symbol of Minas Gerais excellence.
We began collaborating with Emilio in 2024, and from the first lot, it was clear that his coffees were in another league!
