Finca La Tacita is located on the slopes of the Acatenango volcano in San Miguel Dueñas, Antigua, Guatemala, and is managed by the Falla family. The farm spans 135 cultivated hectares at elevations ranging from 1,700 to 2,000 m.a.s.l., where the family cultivates Bourbon, Caturra, and Geisha varieties. This microlot is a Washed coffee composed of Catuai and Bourbon varieties, processed with careful attention to quality.
The coffee is processed at San Miguel mill, where cherries are received separated by varietal and processed through a newly installed micro-mill designed specifically for high‑elevation, single‑varietal coffees picked at peak ripeness. After depulping, the coffee undergoes a 20‑hour fermentation, is washed, and dried on African beds for 10 to 15 days, depending on the weather.
La Tacita belonged to the Falla Schumacher family from 1970 until 2023, when it passed to the Falla Castillo family. The farm’s location on the Acatenango volcano—one of Guatemala’s most renowned coffee-growing regions—provides volcanic soils and a unique microclimate that contribute to the coffee’s exceptional quality. The farm is currently undergoing a significant renewal effort, with new tissue planting aimed at increasing production while maintaining the quality that defines La Tacita.
We recently began working with Finca La Tacita and the Falla family, and we are excited to build this new relationship.
